Our top Myrtle Beach rental home booking tips:
Find your perfect rental:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the largest rental home within your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- First and foremost, have your group choose vacation dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Myrtle Beach Resort Amenity-Rich Escape 4205 has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property management company before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you love, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
