Strategies for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. To book the best vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, picking, and booking the rightrental home:
- Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 2 bedroom 2 bathroom fantastic getaway with views of ocean from LR & balcony. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
