Tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose and book the bestrental:
- Start by selecting a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Ninth Floor Oceanfront Snowbird Friendly Retreat w\/ WiFi, Shared Pool\/Hot Tub has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach beach you love, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
