Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, try shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Finding the best rental:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Lure of the Sea's MH89B Ocean Lakes has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
