Tricks and tips for getting the best vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Ocean Lakes site 6028 5bed 3 bath on the lake has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If they are not listed, contact the host before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
