Rental home tips:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your Myrtle Beach rental in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have deals for local shops and restaurants.

Selecting the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Choose your dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Ocean-view studio with pools, hot tubs, & WiFi - dogs & snowbirds OK has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is best for your vacation group.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your contract.

More considerations:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
