Rental property booking tips:
Sticking to your budget:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and picking a perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Oceanfront 3 Bed\/2 Bath Unit -by Luxury Beach Rentals has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, email the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
More considerations:
- Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
