Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:
Sticking to a budget:
- Book your Myrtle Beach rental property in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Selecting the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Begin by choosing your trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. OCEANFRONT Newly renovated King Suite has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
