Strategies to get the very best vacation property experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Pelican's Watch Unit 102 - Oceanfront has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. If not, contact the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Considerations for your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
