How to find the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, picking, and booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- First and foremost, have your family commit to a vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Huge oceanfront pet friendly home with large yard has 9 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. Otherwise, email the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your family.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
