Rental property booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose your dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Huge oceanfront pet friendly home with large yard has 9 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is best for your group.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Advice for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
