Our top Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

When to visit & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:

  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the most suitable rental for your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Myrtle Beach attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Choosing the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Start by choosing vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Huge oceanfront pet friendly home with large yard has 9 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your group.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you long to visit, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
