How to book the best rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- To start, have your family commit to the best dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Remodeled-Gorgeous! Wide Views-Steps 2 Beach-Kingston Plantation-Pool-HotTub has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
Tips to have a wonderful stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
