Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking the perfect Myrtle Beach rental:
- Select vacation week and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Romantic Beach Condo - spectacular ocean views has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If not, email the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to stimulate more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
