Strategies to get the very best rental home experience:
Find your best deal:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing the best rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Romantic Beach Condo - spectacular ocean views has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the host before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
Tips to have a wonderful stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To make certain damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
