Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To book the most suitable rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose a perfectrental home:
- Choose your dates and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Coastal Escape: 2BR King Suite @ Wyndham Seawatch has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
