Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Get the best rental value:
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First and foremost, have your group select the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Mod and fun villa with full access to all resort amenities, 9EWC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your contract.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
During your stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Call the property manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to propel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
