How to find the best rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking a perfectrental:

  • Start by selecting vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Spacious 3 bdrm condo at Magnolia Point MB has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
