Our top Vacation rental tips:
Money saving strategies:
- To book the largest rental within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Myrtle Beach attractions and restaurants.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to select the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Steps From The Beach Perfect Cottage @ Ocean Lakes has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
