Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the best vacation home in Myrtle Beach:

  • Start by having your group decide on trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Steps From The Beach Perfect Cottage @ Ocean Lakes has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home.
