How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- To find the largest rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to pick the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by having your group agree to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Beach Villa in a gated community with just a short walk to the beach. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
During your stay:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
