Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Book your rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Sweet Oceanview Villa 1bd\/1ba Myrtle Beach has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, call the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
