How to book the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
How to get the best value:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your vacation home in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by having your group agree to date ranges and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. This comfortable beach house in Ocean Lakes has 3 bedrooms with two baths has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
