Vacation rental home tips:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the largest rental for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Under one minute walk to the beach! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your group.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
