Vacation rental tips and tricks:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose your dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Waterfront, Large deck, Pet friendly, Golf cart, Screened in porch. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
