Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and choose the perfectrental:
- First, have your family commit to the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Waterfront, Large deck, Pet friendly, Golf cart, Screened in porch. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your trip.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
