Tricks and tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Find your best deal:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain deals for local shops and restaurants.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by selecting the best vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 2nd Row Ocean View 5 bedroom house on Stilts has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is best for your group.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many problems.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
