Strategies to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:

Finding the best value:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the largest rental home within budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

Finding the best vacation rental:

  • Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 2nd Row Ocean View 5 bedroom house on Stilts has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Upon check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
