Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, try changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to choose and book your prefect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Select your dates and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 4th-floor studio with pool, hot tub, & AC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation group.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More tips for your stay:
- Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
