Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Make a plan and choose your prefectrental home:
- Start by having your family agree to the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Barefoot Escape - Beautiful Beach View!! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your family.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
