Strategies for getting the best vacation rental experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Pelican's Landing Unit 409 - Ocean view has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
More considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the host immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
