Strategies to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Begin by choosing vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Hot Rental! Beach House-ONLY steps to the Ocean! Why stay at a hotel, book now!! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. Otherwise, call the property owner before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
