Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Ocean Creek Resort-2bed\/2bath-4beds-Sleep7-FreeParking-Kitchen-Pools-Gym-Tennis has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is optimal for your family.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Have a great stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
