Tricks and tips to get the best rental home experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning, picking, and booking the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Ocean Front 1 Bedroom Condo with separate living area\nJan-March 1200.00 monthly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
Know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
