Strategies for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the best rental home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and picking the perfectrental:

  • Select your vacation dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Ocean Lakes - Site 1109 - Steps to the Beach and all Ocean Lakes amenities has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. Otherwise, email the property manager before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
