How to book the best vacation rental experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the best rental home in Myrtle Beach:
- Begin by choosing a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Ocean Reef Resort - Direct Oceanfront Studio - Nicely Updated! Perfect for 2-4 guests! Unit 401 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If they are not listed, call the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
