Strategies to get the perfect vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- To find the best rental within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Begin by selecting trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Ocean View King Suite Monterey Bay 1411 Sleeps 7 Guests has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. message the property manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
