Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Selecting the best vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Oceanfront 3 BR Condo 18th floor has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. Otherwise, call the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your contract.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
