How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Book your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- First and foremost, have your family agree to the best dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Spacious 5-bedroom, 5-bathroom stilted home in Ocean Lakes has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
