Booking the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and pick your prefectrental:
- Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Gourmet Kitchen
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is best for your vacation group.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Additional considerations:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
