Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the largest vacation home within your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the perfect rental home:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. The Pelican Pad ** It's a year round ocean oasis! ** has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. Otherwise, call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
