Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
When to go & When to book:
- Booking in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking yourrental:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Four 2BR\/2BA Suites has 12 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is right for your trip.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. text the property manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
