Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local shops and restaurants.
How to pick the perfect vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Coastal Escape: 2BR King Suite @ Wyndham Seawatch has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is best for your vacation group.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
