Our top Vacation rental booking tips:
Finding the best rental value:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your rental Search:
- To start, have your group choose the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Gorgeous ocean view - remodeled 2-bedroom 10th floor condo! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
Know before you go:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
